Networking is better in smaller crowds

I am sure you’ve heard many success stories lately on how people have raised tons of money for their campaigns on various crowdfunding sites. From personal pet projects to multi-million dollar product developments, there’s no doubt that there is a chance for success on one of those sites.  Although the reality is that you are just like a needle in the hay on these websites. You’re lucky if you’re noticed. So would you be more noticed on smaller crowdfunding websites?

YES. Why? I’ll tell you why.

1. A much bigger chance of getting noticed

Startup crowdfunding companies have less campaigns on their websites so you have the privilege to be one of the first ones to appear on their website. On bigger sites you’re lucky if a potential backer will stumble upon your campaign. On the better  smaller sites anyone that visits the website will see your campaign. This offers your campaign priority on their home page. The website’s team will share your campaign on their social media sites and may offer to  promote your product to their followers.

2. You’ll be better supported

You’re a start-up, the new crowdfunding site is a startup too. Both of you are trying to get your business going. Don’t be afraid to contact the company to ask if they can help you with any aspects of your campaign. A good start-up crowfunding site will do all they can to see you succeed.  You would be helping them by posting your campaign and they could help you get the word out – win-win!

3. Industry specific

Most of the smaller crowdfunding sites focus on a specific field, which means that you can receive support from industry specialists in that field to help you.  Also,  there is more chance of getting funded by people who are actually genuinely interested in that field.

So have a think on what your ultimate goals are. It might be a better option to post your campaign on a smaller site.
